These Friend-Group Referral Terms (the ‘Referral Terms’) constitute a binding agreement between you and Pyko Canada Ltd. (doing business as Pyko) (‘Pyko’, ‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’) with respect to the friend-group referral program described herein (the ‘Program’). By starting or joining a referral group, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Referral Terms. In the event of any conflict between these Referral Terms and the Pyko Terms of Use, the Terms of Use shall control. Pyko is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any educational institution or email service provider.
1. The Offer
Subject to the conditions set forth in these Referral Terms, at such time as six (6) members of a referral group have each satisfied the qualification criteria specified in Section 3, each then-current member of that group shall become eligible to receive access to the Pyko Plus subscription tier at no charge for the duration of the Reward Period defined in Section 5 (the ‘Reward’). The Reward is limited to a complimentary Pyko Plus subscription and does not include any cash equivalent, account credit, the Pyko Pro subscription tier, or any other benefit. The Reward has no cash value and is non-transferable.
2. Eligibility and Participation
Any holder of a valid Pyko account may create one (1) referral group and distribute the associated invitation link. A participant may belong to only one (1) referral group at any given time. Each referral group is limited to a maximum of ten (10) members; the Reward is triggered by the sixth (6th) qualifying member, and the additional places exist so that a group whose members do not all qualify may continue to admit participants. Where a group has reached its maximum membership, prospective participants shall be directed to create a separate referral group.
3. Qualification Criteria
A member shall be deemed to have qualified, and shall be counted toward the six (6) qualifying members required under Section 1, only upon satisfaction of all of the following conditions:
- Verified institutional email. The email address associated with the member’s account constitutes a recognized educational or academic email address and has been verified by Pyko. An unverified email address, or an email address issued by a consumer email provider (for example, Gmail or Outlook), does not satisfy this condition.
- Confirmed syllabus. The member has submitted at least one (1) syllabus that Pyko has successfully processed.
- Account recency (joining members only). A member who joins a group by means of an invitation link must have created their Pyko account within thirty (30) days prior to joining. The member who created the group is exempt from this condition.
Should a member subsequently modify their account so that it no longer satisfies the foregoing conditions, that member may cease to qualify and the corresponding membership position may be released.
4. Single Participation and Prohibited Conduct
Each individual may hold only one (1) membership position within a referral group and may receive only one (1) Reward. Email addresses that resolve to the same underlying mailbox shall be treated as a single individual (by way of illustration, an address and a tagged variant of that address are counted once). The creation of duplicate or fictitious accounts, the use of email addresses that the participant does not control, and any other conduct intended to circumvent the qualification criteria are strictly prohibited and shall result in forfeiture of the Reward.
5. Reward Terms
The Reward Period shall in all cases expire on December 31, 2026, inclusive (as measured at end of day in the America/Toronto time zone), irrespective of the date on which a group achieved qualification. Qualification prior to that date results in a longer period of complimentary access; the expiry date is not prorated, extended, or renewed. A member who satisfies the qualification criteria after the group has already reached six (6) qualifying members shall receive the Reward for the remainder of the Reward Period. The Reward does not automatically convert to, or renew as, a paid subscription. Upon expiry of the Reward Period, the account shall revert to the subscription tier otherwise applicable to it.
6. Modification and Termination
Pyko reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold or revoke any Reward, and to remove any member or group from the Program, where Pyko reasonably determines that the Program has been subject to abuse, manipulation, or use in violation of these Referral Terms or the Pyko Terms of Use. Pyko further reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Program, or to amend the qualification criteria, group size, or Reward, at any time and without prior notice. A Reward validly granted prior to any such change shall be honored through the stated expiry of the Reward Period, except where such Reward was obtained through fraud or abuse.
7. General Provisions
Participation in the Program requires a valid Pyko account and compliance with the eligibility requirements set forth in the Pyko Terms of Use. No purchase is necessary to participate. The Program is void where prohibited or restricted by applicable law. These Referral Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to the Pyko Terms of Use.
