Official source · Faculty of Arts & ScienceIn this first introduction to Calculus, students will be introduced to the tools of differential calculus, the branch of calculus that is motivated by the problem of measuring how quantities change. Students will use these tools to solve other problems, including simplifying functions with straight lines, describing how different types of change are related, and computing maximum and minimum quantities. This course will focus on developing a deep understanding of why the tools of calculus make sense and how to apply them to the social, biological, and physical sciences. It will also emphasize translating between algebraic, graphical, numerical and verbal descriptions of each concept studied. The following concepts will be studied: Limits, asymptotes, continuity, derivatives, linear approximation of functions, the notion of a differential equation (DE) and a solution of a DE, slope fields, and Euler's method. This course will emphasize applications to life sciences.

Both a midterm and a final appear in what we hold, so this course has historically been assessed on both rather than on a single end-of-term paper.
Counts, not a library. Pyko does not host or distribute course files, and this page is not an offer to supply one — the archive is what lets these pages describe how a course is assessed.

What this opens up
59 courses list MAT130H1 as a prerequisiteShowing 24 of the 42 that have a page here. The other 17 have no page yet. Listing a course here means it names MAT130H1 among its prerequisites — often as one of several ways to satisfy the same requirement, so this is what MAT130H1 makes available, not what it alone guarantees.
